Hi eduroam admins,

I'm writing you as responsible contacts for eduroam in CN (according to the eduroam database); if I should address this someplace else, please let me know.

We received a report about xxxx University using a Web Captive Portal for an open network named "eduroam". This violates the eduroam policy; eduroam is only allowed as WPA-Enterprise (802.1x) network, not as captive portal, and authentication should be secured end-to-end via the EAP protocol with the users' home institution. This should never ever happen via a web browser.

I understand instructions for the own users are at https://its.xxxx.edu.cn

This clearly isn't what eduroam is supposed to be. Can you investigate and make sure this gets resolved?

Did you perhaps receive more reports about this incident?
